Research activities for this Supergen project include:

  • Assessment of exposure conditions for components in power plants using advanced operation conditions:

                    o biomass co-firing

                    o oxy-fuel firing

                    o higher gas/metal/steam temperature

  • Evaluation of high  temperature oxidation performance of:

                    o gas turbine materials (base alloys and coatings)

                    o heat exchanger materials (fireside and steam side surfaces)

  • ยท     Sensing systems for:

                    o high temperature corrosion of heat exchangers

                    o temperature/heat flux on gas turbine components

  • Improved coating compositions for gas turbine environments

  • Predictive modelling for:

                    o high temperature oxidation

                    o hot/fireside corrosion

                    o steam oxidation
