Research activities for this Supergen project include:

• Mechanical testing of:

                    o gas turbine materials

                    o steam pipe materials

                    o weld for steam pipe materials - similar and dissimilar

• Predictive finite element (FE) models for the performance of specific power plant components including:

                   o steam pipes with welded branches

                   o gas turbine parts with thermal barrier coatings

• Novel integrated modelling to link the work from the four partners universities, for example:

                   o microstructural development modelling and FE creep modelling

• Improved high velocity oxy-fired (HVOF) coatings for use in industrial gas turbines
