Research activities for this Supergen project include:

• Non-destructive evaluation (NDE) including:

                o defects in steam pipe materials using ultrasonic arrays

                        - cracks, cavities, etc

                        - 2-D and 3-D imagining

                        - similar and dissimilar welds

               o thermally grown oxides on gas turbine materials (identification and stress distributions)

• Miniaturisation of NDE techniques, including:

              o deep hole drilling for determination of stresses in welded steam pipe materials (including similar and dissimilar welds)
